Acne Treatment in Orlando
Acne is an inflammatory condition, not a hygiene problem, and being told otherwise is why a lot of people scrub their skin raw before they ever get help. It involves oil production, pores that block, bacteria, and an immune response — usually all four at once. Treating only one of them is why so many routines stall. At One Aesthetics in College Park, we treat the inflammation and the marks it leaves, and we are straightforward about where our treatment ends and a dermatologist's begins.
The part people underestimate: the marks outlast the spots
For many people the breakout clears in a week and the dark or red mark it leaves behind takes months. That is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and it is more pronounced and longer-lasting on melanin-rich skin. It is frequently the thing that actually bothers people, rather than the active spots.
That matters for how you treat acne, because an aggressive approach that clears spots while provoking more pigment is not a win. It is a trade.
How the Aerolase works on acne
We use the Aerolase Neo Elite, an FDA-cleared 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser. On acne it does two things at once: the energy reaches the sebaceous glands that drive oil production, and it calms the inflammation that makes a spot red, raised and sore. Because the 1064 nm wavelength is absorbed far less by surface melanin than shorter wavelengths, it is appropriate across Fitzpatrick types I to VI — which matters precisely because darker skin is more prone to the marks.
In the manufacturer's clinical studies, patients saw an average 84% reduction in acne lesions over a ten-week treatment course. Those are the manufacturer's figures, from their own published data, and individual results vary.
Treatment is contactless. Nothing touches your skin, there is no numbing cream and no cooling gel, and most people go straight back to their day afterwards.
What a plan usually looks like
A series of sessions, commonly in the four to six range, spaced a few weeks apart. Acne responds to a course, not a single visit.
Medical-grade topicals running continuously underneath, because the laser settles inflammation but does not change how your skin behaves between sessions.
Treatment of the marks left behind, which often continues after the active acne has calmed.
Sun protection, which is not optional when you are dealing with pigmentation.
When you should see a dermatologist instead
We will tell you this at the consultation rather than sell you a series you do not need. If you have deep, painful cystic acne, widespread nodules, or acne that is scarring as it heals, that is medical dermatology territory and may need prescription systemic treatment. Laser can play a supporting role, but it should not be your first or only step.
The same applies if your acne is clearly hormonal in pattern — along the jaw, flaring with your cycle. Treating the skin without addressing the driver gets you so far and no further.
What to expect
Your first visit is a complimentary consultation. We look at your skin, take your history including anything you have already tried, and give you a written plan with an exact quote. There is no obligation to book.
Improvement is gradual. Most people notice inflammation settling before they notice the marks fading, because the marks clear on a slower timeline. Individual results vary.
Frequently asked questions
Does it hurt?
Most people describe a warm snapping sensation and little more. The pulse is extremely short, and no numbing or cooling is needed. If you find it uncomfortable, say so during the session — settings can be adjusted.
Is laser acne treatment safe on brown or dark skin?
The 1064 nm wavelength is designed and validated for Fitzpatrick I to VI, and it is the wavelength we would choose precisely for skin that marks easily. No laser is risk-free on any skin tone, so your provider assesses your skin and your history first.
Will it get rid of my acne permanently?
No. Acne is a condition you manage rather than cure, and it can return — particularly if it is hormonally driven. A course can calm things substantially and keep them calmer, and maintenance is usually part of the picture.
What about the scars, not just the marks?
Flat dark or red marks and textured scarring are different problems. Marks respond to pigment and inflammation work; true indented scarring is a texture problem and usually needs microneedling, sometimes over a longer series. We will tell you which you have.
